Men’s Fashion on a Budget – How to be Stylish When You’re Broke

Styleogue NYC host Bec Susan Gill sits down with fashion commentator (and Japanese reality TV star!) Meaney to discuss how guys can look stylish on a budget. Don’t worry dudes… looking good isn’t limited to those with a big bank balance.

Meaney tells us to take a nod from New Yorkers, who get very creative with fashion, and offers three tips to do so:
1. Whatever you do buy, be cohesive. Respect the same colour palette, so you can mix and match all your clothes – whether they be neutrals or bright colours.
2. Shop at second hand stores. Thrift store shopping can be so much fun and you can find really good deals for under $20. Don’t go in with high expectations – or looking for a particular item of clothing, though. You have to walk in known that you may need to dedicate a lot of time so that you can find hidden gems.
3. Invest in a good pair of shoes. One good pair of leather dress shoes may seem like a way to spend money (not save it!) but they will carry you through and make almost any outfit work. This way, you can wear cheap clothes and you won’t be spending money on lots of different pairs of shoes for one occasion.
