  1. Glad you brought that up, Jordan.

Being German as well, my blood is boiling every time another mass shooting, gun violence tragedy occurs because – from an outside perspective – it seems to be so frickin’ easy to put an end to that deadly chain. Just impose stricter gun laws.
The 2nd amendment killed far more US Citizens than any war America was into. This year alone left over 11,000 people dead according to gunviolencearchive.org figures. Mind-boggling & totally unacceptable numbers.
It always the same: Mass shooting -> media outcry -> pro gun lobbyists step in -> unscathed gun legislation -> next mass shooting…

The USA always had a “genetic” affection for guns. Over decades people were influenced by powerful lobbyists like the NRA spinning that more guns mean more freedom. Actually, I think, it’s rather the opposite.
Guns take freedom away from people and replace it with constant anxiety about their personal safety because “that dude over there in the grocery store could be armed”. As the lady in the interview said, this is not a good environment to raise children.
Go and ask as many people you can in gun-restricted societies how they feel about their personal safety and compare that to US surveys. I bet the answers you get won’t be appreciated by pro-gunners.
The US is only 2 legislations away from being a better place: health care for everyone and effective gun restrictions !
