Why is Mental illness the go-to for explaining the actions of these assholes? Attributing bad behavior to mental illness is attributing the mentally ill to bad behavior. Many many many mentally ill people are not bad actors. Instead they try to get through life while dealing with their illness. While many people are working hard to erase the stigma, statements like these are fueling it.
